At the core of Health Care Executives (HCE) of Southern California is the mission of professional competency through education opportunities, networking and enhancing career growth of current leaders while developing future leaders. The healthcare industry requires of those leaders innovation, creativity, and flexibility in their ability to lead and govern with scarce resources. Governance is the cornerstone of a well-managed organization and HCE’S focus for 2018 will be on good governance of all of our resources.
As HCE enters a new year we cannot function as an independent chapter without the support of one of our most precious resources, our volunteers. Volunteering for HCE can be as simple as acting as a mentor for BridgeRoads, or serving on the HCE Board of Directors. Many of HCE volunteers return year after year to serve on different roles and capacities. There are other opportunities to support HCE such as in-kind donation of a venue or sponsoring many of our programs. Additionally, introducing HCE to other potential sponsors would also support our efforts to move the mission forward. I am very excited this year to have a new Chair of Sponsorships who will engage new sponsors for signature events like the College Bowl and the Annual Conference.
As the broader trend of collaboration is continuing to permeate the healthcare industry, HCE continues to reach out to new partners and volunteers. We value partnerships and strategic alignments to our vision and mission with other California Chapters and ACHE. Our Meet the Board event is designed to help us engage our members and listen to them directly. This gives HCE a great opportunity to shape our agenda for 2018. Part of our strategic plan will focus on helping chapter members advance to Fellow, meeting our face-to-face education goals, being transparent in governance through an executive summary of our activities published through our newsletter, and diversifying our content and speakers.
I look forward to this exciting year and I hope to hear from you directly on ideas to move our mission forward. Please feel free to connect via LinkedIn or directly with me at victor.carrasco@kindred.com.
