Los Angeles, California –Many HCE members attended the “Physician Engagement and Alignment” event organized by HCE’s Los Angeles Educational Program Council on May 17 at Barlow Respiratory Hospital. This was one of two regional Spring educational events that offered ACHE face-to-face credits. The audience listened to and learned from an all-physician panel that discussed new approaches for success with defining, measuring and enhancing physician engagement through leadership and involvement. The panel members presented on medical staff models that promote leadership framework to meet hospital needs; pathways and strategies to organize physician leadership roles, as well as physician engagement and integration models and approaches along the alignment continuum.
The panel was composed of physicians Harry C. Sax, M.D., FACHE, Executive Vice Chair of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; Donald Larsen, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of Providence Saint John’s Health Center; and Howard Davis, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of Providence Tarzana Medical Center. Lara Khouri, MBA, MPH, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, moderated the event.
