Long Beach, CA – HCE’s annual diversity forum brought together, once again, local affinity groups associated with the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). Representatives from the Asian Healthcare Leaders Forum (AHLF), the National Association of Health Services Executives – Southern California (NAHSE SoCal), the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NAHLE), and Women in Health Administration of Southern California (WHA) introduced to the audience their group’s mission and goals, as well as planned events for the year.
This year’s event focus was on LGBQT health. The speakers presented on issues that face the LGBQT community surrounding emotional and psychological health that underscored the importance of strong support networks. Speakers from the LA County Commission on HIV, Altamed, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles County and Children’s Hospital of Orange County informed the audience of the many programs available to support the LGBQT community, and asked the audience, as healthcare leaders, for their support of such programs whenever the opportunity presents itself.
HCE’s Diversity Council and the OC Programs Committee would like to thank speakers Natalie Sanchez, Administrator at the HIV Services Division at AltaMed; Cheryl Barrit, Executive Director at the LA County Commission on HIV; Jamie Julian, Intake Coordinator at The Center for Transyouth Health and Development at CHLA; and Dr. Mark Daniels, Division Chief of Endocrinology at CHOC Children’s Specialists.
Long Beach Memorial Medical Center was the in-kind sponsor of the event.
